The primary purpose of a management plan is to outline the goals and strategies that KMTA officials will use to administer the heritage area but this plan does much more than that. It also contains a thorough analysis of the historical themes that make KMTA special, and a comprehensive inventory of all the cultural and natural resources within its boundaries.
The KMTA Management Plan was approved by the Secretary of the Interior following
nearly two years of public meetings, public comment, and inputs from communities
and government entities within the KMTA National Heritage Area.
